Knowing Colleen & Paul’s personalities extremely well we knew this was going to be a really fun time and it definitely lived up to our expectations. We met them at their apartment in Morristown and decided to take a little walk around the block and then get some dinner. What started off as a nice photo shoot with lots of “ooohs” and “aaaahhs” from the passerby’s quickly turned into a fit of hysterics for everyone.

Along our walk we noticed this…

In case you can”t figure it out by the picture it’s the beautiful bridal studio i do… i do…

As we were setting up a shot outside one of the owners popped out and asked if we wanted to go in. I sure did (I wasn’t sure about Colleen and Paul though) because there was some awesome stuff to take pictures of in there. Patricia and Leia, the owners of i do… i do…, were so accommodating to us during the shoot. I can’t wait to go back there.

After the bridal studio shots we headed back out on the road and were stopped by quite a few people asking about who the guy was wearing the dress. That put us all back into a fit of laughter.

It was such a pleasure photographing Colleen and Paul and we can’t wait for their wedding.

Well the pictures are finally done and the reason why it took so long? Too many good pictures!!! Talk about a problem. Culling down images for the blog alone took hours, so you could only imagine what it was like to go through all the images in total. Anyways…on to the story.

Nicole and Mike have been friends with us for quite a long time and we were thrilled that they chose us to document their day. Now for anyone who knows Nicole and Mike know that they are an absolute blast. This wedding came together in a way I’ve never seen before. It ran smoothly thanks to Danielle from Iris Fields who made sure everyone was set and helped us tremendously when it came to locating people for the dizzying amount of family portraits.

The day started with Mike and Nicole both getting ready in separate areas of the Tarrytown House before shuffling over to The Tappan Hill Mansion for the ceremony and reception. After a bit of shuffling around the grounds to get some photos taken while trying to keep the bride and groom from seeing each other the ceremony started. With a beautiful deck over-looking the Hudson River while the sun was setting, breath taking is the only thing that comes to mind.

After the ceremony the party really started with amazing food served by Abigal Kirsch staff and the amazing sounds of DJ Frank Productions keeping the dance floor full. The party went late into the night…and we mean late.

Katelyn & Nicholas – 5/29/10

I was so excited when Patrick & Betsy asked me to take some pictures of Katelyn & Nicholas. As you will find out very quickly they are absolutely adorable and a blast to photograph. I met them bright & early at 6:45am so our timing would cooperate with the kids schedules. We snapped a few portraits of the whole family at their house and then started off on a lovely walk towards central park. Katelyn was so anxious to leave once she heard we were going for a walk and I later found out that was because Patrick takes her out for walks through the park fairly often. I’m embarrassed to say that I’ve been living in NY my whole 23 years of life and I am certain Katelyn in her 3+ years has been in Central Park more times than I. She wanted to go to places I had never been, and thankfully we did because unbeknownst to her they made beautiful settings for the pictures. Nicholas, by the way, was an absolute stud for the camera. He waited so patiently and quietly for us to arrive at the park before he showed off his bright smile and I made every effort possible to capture his charm.

Max, Michael & Ari – 5/16/10

Let me give you a little back story to these three lovely kids. When I first started dating Danielle (up in New Hampshire), she was a babysitter extraordinaire. Every Friday she would babysit Michael & Ari during the day and pick up Max from the school bus in the afternoon. So every time I went up to NH to visit, I would drive straight to the Friedman’s home and babysit with Danielle. It was a blast! Max, Michael & Ari were so energetic and fun to hang out with. I say ‘hang out’ because lets face it, I wasn’t there to babysit! I was there to play, it was Dani’s job to babysit and make sure everyone stayed safe and sound.

Before I drive off down memory lane, fast forward and we’re reunited with the three of them again. Although they have grown significantly they still possess that same lovable charm we were drawn to a few years back. We took some family portraits, went to play mini golf, and took a quick stop on Main Street to cap off our day with them. It was sad to leave them again, but now we have some pictures to remind us of them!

Joanna & Jake 05/08/10

Today was a fun and productive day. The Reflections Photography Crew (Mikey, Kristen, Dani and I ) had an early morning meeting (delicious NY bagels for breakfast) before we met Nicole & Mike up in Tarry Town, NY to do a venue walk-through with them to plan out their wedding. Later in the afternoon, we had an e-session out in Glen Cove, NY. Joanna (who happens to be my cousin) came upon the pictures we took of Donielle & Kyle out at the Jersey Shore and asked if we’d be willing to do an engagement session with her and Jake (her fiance’) and of course we were happy to do it.

I had a lot of fun planning this shoot because it involved a train ride, something I had been wanting to do for a while, and a cool old church. We got to the train station early and it was completely empty, just as I had hoped it would be. We had both time and space on our side, so I did my best to take full advantage. The whole shoot was going really well, until I got caught up in the picture taking and forgot what stop we were supposed to get off at and ended up some place I was not planning to be. Whoops. I’m thankful that I was with my cousin because I would have felt extra awkward if it were someone else! Thankfully Dani was waiting in the car at the train stop (the one we were supposed to get off) so she came and scooped us up. Traveling by car we went to the old church and finished up the shoot at Burger King, but not for food.

Kelly & Tim- 04/10/2010

I had never been so excited to shoot an engagement session as I was today, and it was for two reasons: First, I was able to take photos of Kelly (my friend who helped me to court Dani and make her my wife) and her fiance Tim. Second, Boston is beautiful. Combining these two for me equals sheer excitement and joy. The whole shoot was incredibly fun, and the love and emotion between Kelly & Tim was really vivid.

I have not spent much time in the city of Boston before so picking a good place to take pictures was kind of tricky. However, with Tim’s helpful suggestions and the aid of Google Maps we found a great little street that led us right to Esplanade Park which runs along the Charles River. It was a fantastic setting to capture the love between two people who happen to hold a very special place in my heart. Enjoy.

03/13/2010 – Lisa and Rick’s Wedding

Well where to start with this wedding…I guess we can start with the weather. It was absolutely insane, what would later be referred to as the Monsoon of 2010. Even though the weather was a bit rough and wet we were still excited that our first couple of the season were getting married and the weather wasn’t going to hold them back. After arriving at the house that Lisa was getting ready, we found her excited and not really nervous which was amazing. We grabbed a lot of great pictures there then headed over to where Rick was getting ready. Another stoic and very excited one, we knew we were in for a treat.

After all the getting ready pictures were finished we headed over to the Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Pompton Lakes. It was a beautiful ceremony that made the Deacon even choke up a little while he was reciting the vows for Lisa and Rick. After the church everyone boarded and party bus(yes they love to party) and headed over to The Graycliff in Moonachie. With the sounds of Gemini DJ’s pumping out sounds for everyone, the party went well into the night mimicing the power of the storm.

It was a fantastic wedding that we were proud to be a part of and may Rick and Lisa have many happy years together.
