February 16th, 2010- Morning Movie, Afternoon of Animals, Evening of The Office
Greetings from San Diego! Today’s post is being guest-written by Dani, aka the luckiest girl in the world We’ve had so much fun relaxing this week, it has been completely rejuvenating. My class should be pleased to have a de-stressed and well-rested teacher come Monday morning.
What do you get when you cross Avatar, 800 species of animals, Mexican food, shopping, and rerun episodes of The Office? A fantastic Tuesday, that’s what! Our 6:30 a.m. wake up wasn’t surprising, but we made the best of it by watching Avatar (much better than I thought it would be!). After some breakfast and a quick gym session, we drove out to Balboa Park and the San Diego Zoo. When we arrived at the zoo, we hopped on a guided bus tour that gave us the rundown of what to see and where to see it. After the tour, we walked around for a few hours- catching the sights, sounds, and smells of the wildlife. Our favorite exhibit was the Giant Pandas- Bai Yun (the mama) and Yun Zi (the 6 month old cub) were so cute! Today was Yun Zi’s first day of being on exhibit, so it was a little crowded but very exciting nonetheless. We caught the aerial skyride around the zoo, and then drove over to Old Town San Diego.
We have been hearing that the Mexican food there is exceptional- and we definitely indulged on chips and salsa, enchiladas, chipotle taquitos, quesadillas, and of course- GUACAMOLE (my favorite)!!! The souvenir shops were calling my name, so we did a little shopping before heading back to the hotel.
Special SHOUT OUT to Kelly and Tim for the extremely thoughtful gift that was sent to our room! The wine and chocolate covered strawberries were DELICIOUS and enjoyed as we watched re-runs of The Office. You Rock!
That’s all for now- I’m signing off
